Our Welcome to the official Marsyas Complex Website. This site is dedicated to keeping you up to date on all things that are happening in the world of northern California's hottest new rock band.
A Little Bit of History Marsyas Complex, was originally known as Bad Influence, they were formed in April of 2009. The original members included John Banks Jr. (lead guitar) Luke Garcia (bass and lead vocals) and Terry Lynn (drums). In April of 2010, Terry had to step down as the bands drummer due to family related issues. In steps John Duncan, or JD. With JD onboard, the band formed a new sound, and with this new sound, came a new beginning, and a new name to commemorate the occasion. Thus, Marsyas Complex came to be. The name Marsyas, is from a Greek character, a satyr, who found a twin piped flute, made by Athena herself. Marsyas mastered the art of playing it, and became so good, that he challenged the God Apollo to a musical duel. Unfortunately, Marsyas lost the duel and Apollo flayed him alive. He then took Marsyas' skin and nailed it to a tree. the blood that drip from the skin, formed the Marsyas river that runs through Greece. The Marsyas Complex, is a state of mind, that we feel that we have really evolved in our music, and are now good enough to challenge the gods. We are a hard working, determined, energetic, hard rock band that will stop at nothing to reach the top. Company Profile
